Azi au fost anunțate nominalizăriile la Premiile Oscar. The Power of the Dog conduce lista cu 12 nominalizări, inclusiv pentru cel mai bun film și pentru regie. Jane Campion, regizoarea filmului, devine astfel prima femeie care a primit două nominalizări la această categorie, după filmul The Piano (1993).
Nu este surprinzător că listele Academiei Americane de Film sunt asemănătoare cu nominalizările la Globurile de Aur și ne așteptăm ca și în ceea ce privește câștigătorii să fie păstrată această asemănare.
Varietatea de genuri între filmele nominalizate este cu totul aparte anul acesta, la categoriile principale regăsindu-se filme din genurile musical, SF, western, comedie, biografic, istoric, thriller și altele.
