Interview

INTERVIEW Renate Reinsve: “Working with Cristian Mungiu will affect my future work because the standard is now higher, very high.”

In this, her only interview given so far to the Romanian press, Renate talks to Cultura la dubă about her experience working with Cristian Mungiu, and about interacting with the Romanian crew — “Honestly, I think Romanians are among the kindest people I have ever met. They are so nice, even if they argue a lot on set, haha,” Renate says with a smile.

INTERVIEW Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof for Cultura la dubă: “History is like a burden. There is always a conflict between tradition and modernity.”

“The Seed of the Sacred Fig” was filmed secretly without the authorities’ permission, with minimal technical means, and crew members in Iran are interrogated and threatened. This is the only interview that Rasoulof gave for a romanian publication, Cultura la dubă.

Mircea Arapu, Illustrator of Pif and Hercule: “Drawing has always kept me on the surface.”

In 1959, a 4 year old boy from Bucharest, living in a part of the city with nice houses, between Popa Nan and Hala Traian, decided to leave home and go searching for Pif, the famous comic book dog.

He had discovered the Pif universe in the Vaillant magazines, that an aunt had given to his older brother. From that moment on, he has dedicated his life to his passion for comics.
